Camp Location

A herd of wildebeests with our camp at the background.

Brian’s camp is located a stone’s throw away from the famous leopard Kaboso area, who was a common visitor until her sudden demise. We peacefully share the space with elephants, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, lions who roar and leopards who prowl through the night. Nothing equals the pure magic, the sheer excitement of being right next to the park.

In place of the usual sounds of the city, the serenity afforded to you by the plains of Africa provide a sensational replacement. With the multitude of wildlife around our camp at all times, the soundscape is shaped by the bird calls and the lion roars and so much more that Africa is known for. It’s a truly incredible experience to just relax, listen and absorb all the sounds of the Mara.

At night, whilst everyone is in their cottages, we don’t impact wildlife in their ability to move around; there might be a lion hunting, hyenas who are ready to snatch the kill from the lions, hippos and buffalos grazing, and many more actions. This process is as safe as can be in Africa, and means we maintain a positive relationship with the wildlife around us.

Brian’s Camp is the envy of anyone visiting the Masai Mara due to its location. If a crossing is happening or a leopard is spotted you want to be there.  Basing your safari in the Conservancy can lead to long commutes of 1-2 hours just to enter the Park and then possibly another 1-2 hours to reach some of the game hot spots.  Wildlife and in particular the fabulous big cats of the Mara, are at their most active in the early hours of the morning before the heat of the day.  We understand this and that is why we believe our camp location, coupled with an early start, gives you the best chance of seeing something truly amazing. This is one of the benefits of staying with a Safari company that has been permanently based in the Masai Mara for over 25 years.

Environmentally aware

It may be Africa but we apply and uphold the highest standards of eco-friendly design. The Freeman Camp is one of the few locations in the Masai Mara that is fully compliant with government and park eco requirements. Safari responsibly with Brian Freeman.

Go local, Be connected

Did you hear about the cheetah coalitions, the leopard cubs or the wildebeest crossing? I expect not, but we will have. Your safari experience is greatly enhanced if you have the benefit of up to date local knowledge. Freeman is part of the fabric of the Mara, when the ‘jungle drums’ beat we are listening. We always try to find the game for ourselves. Others see us and come over for a visiting as Freeman vehicles have the reputation of finding the best viewing spots.
